When we host an event at Common Ground it is like we are a family swinging open the front door and inviting our friends and family in to share in a moment around the dinner table. You are the ones that make these moments possible…those final touches to the flowers, lighting the candles, checking the glasses are clean. These are not mundane necessities in the prep…these actions communicate huge love to our guests at each event. It says…you’re worth the time I’ve spent preparing this space for you, if you’re someone who doesn’t yet know Christ, I’m showing you some of the undeserved love he’s given me; I love you as my Christian brother or sister and I’ve laid out the best for you tonight. Each guest that attends the events we serve at represents Christ and they have a claim on the welcome and care of our community. In other words if we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected within us and is showered on those whom we come in contact with.
Organising successful events is a team effort. Opportunities for serving include being part of the planning team, décor team, shopping for needed items, as well as the very important serving and cleaning team.
Our special events teams serve 2 to 3 times per term at together events like DNA, Pre-Marriage and leadership events. Most events take place on a weeknight but occasionally on a Saturday.
So if you’d like to be a part of serving in this fun way while connecting with other Common Grounders then please sign up here and we’ll be in touch shortly.
